Welcome to our iona, our island in the heart of a burgeoning Douglas, our own island of saints and scholars

Welcome to St. Columba’s BNS

Situated on a five acre campus in the heart of Douglas, our school has been a centre for learning for over 100 years. Our most important resource is our staff, the Principal, class teachers and learning support teachers. We also have, in addition classroom assistants, administrative and maintenance staff

The school is well equipped with audio/visual aids. Each class has access to computer facilities including a laptop for each teacher. All classrooms are equipped with projectors to enhance the learning environment of the school. In 2009, we installed a state of the art audio visual system in the school hall which includes a 9ft screen and surround sound facilities.

The main subjects in our school are: Irish, English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Science, Religion, Nature, Physical Education, Arts & Crafts, Music & Singing, Drama, Social, Personal and Health Education. French is taught in senior classes.

A message from one of our students….. 22.11.2015

Hello. I am Harry Neal in 4th class. I was offered a great chance for next Easter! I am one of a few people who have been invited to go and play the cello in the British Suzuki festival in London. The event is happening in the Royal Albert Hall and I will be in a group tutored by the best cello Suzuki teachers in Europe which is really exciting.
